What is Winter Training?
Winter Training is a short time during the winter months when we go inside and work on the basics of the sports of Baseball and Softball.
Winter Training is the perfect opportunity for players of all skill levels to work on skills they want to be more comfortable with, for players that want to shake off the cobwebs and prepare for the upcoming Spring 2024 season, or for those players who have never played before and want a slightly less intimidating setting to be introduced to baseball or softball.
When is registration?
Winter Training registration is now open for the 2023-2024 winter session and will remain open until the end of November, or until all available spots have been filled.
How long does Winter Training last?
Winter Training begins the first weekend of December 2023 and will run through the last weekend of January 2024. We will take the 2 week holiday break off.
What do the players learn?
Everett Little League’s Winter Training programs focus on the fundamentals of hitting, fielding, and pitching in baseball and softball. Our Coaching Coordinators have put together detailed plans to address each of the core skills for all different levels of skill and play.
What time are the practices?
This year Everett Little League is doing something a little different than years past. We will have 2 softball sessions on Saturdays and 4 baseball sessions on Sunday. Each session will be broken up based on league age and skill.
Softball:
3-4:15pm - League Age 6-8
4:30-6pm - League Age 9-13
Baseball:
11-12:15pm - LeagueAge 4-6
12:30-1:45pm - League Age 10-13
2-3:15pm - League Age 7-8
3:30-5pm - League Age 8-11
Who can attend Winter Training?
Any baseball or softball player who resides within the Everett Little League’s boundaries and meets the age requirements set above. Baseball 2024 League Ages 4-13, registered in the appropriate sessions. Softball 2024 League Ages 6-13, registered in the appropriate session.
What will the players be wearing for uniforms?
There is no uniform requirement for Winter Training, however all players will need to wear athletic clothing they can move easily in and sneakers. Cleats are not to be worn during winter training sessions as they are held indoors and cleats can pose a safety risk in this environment.
Our indoor training facility can be quite cold during the winter months, it is recommended that players dress in layers that they can take off and put on as they warm up and cool down throughout the their training session.
Everett Little League will be providing each participate a Winter Training t-shirt with their registration; to be handed out at their first session.
What do I need to bring?
Glove, helmet, bat, water.
Fielders mask for softball.
What is the cost for Winter Training?
Winter Training fees are be $90.
Is coaching help needed?
Winter Training 2023-2024 will be a little different in the aspect of coaches, if you want to volunteer but can’t commit to every week, you can choose sessions based on your availability through our SignUp Genius here. All coaching plans will be provided by the respective coaching coordinators. You do not have to be a current coach to sign up for winter training, this is a good time to see if EvLL’s program fits for you and your coaching style. You do not have be over 18, we welcome teen players who would like to help coach to sign up as well.
